In this post and video, I’ll show you how to use Mautic’s unsubscribe preference settings.
Do you know what happens when someone clicks an unsubscribe link in one of your emails sent from Mautic?
If you haven’t changed your settings, that contact will be unsubscribed from EVERYTHING, immediately. What if you’d like to present subscription preferences – the ability for your contact to choose which types of email to receive – rather than unsubscribe completely?
Mautic makes that pretty easy.
The short version is: Go to Settings > Configuration, choose Email Settings and scroll down until you find the Unsubscribe Settings section. It will look something like this:
Next, toggle the “Show contact preference settings” to YES, and then choose which other options you’d like to enable. You can show categories, frequency, etc.
But I recommend using Segments to provide your contacts with email subscription options.
If you turn on “Show contact segment preferences”, contacts will be able to see all of your public segments and select which ones they’d like to be part of.
IMPORTANT: By default, segments you create are public. Make sure you review your segments, and mark as private any segments that should not be visible to your contacts.
For example, if you have a segment called “Inactive Contacts”, or “Hot Leads”, you probably want to keep that private!
Here’s a more detailed walk-through for setting up email subscription preferences:
